The Fox ESS Communication Box, marketed as the Smart Logger, is a wall-mounted data logger and energy management unit used to combine and monitor multiple Fox ESS inverters as one system, including parallel H3 Pro installations. It handles up to 30 inverters over RS485 (Modbus RTU / Sunspec), with 2 CAN ports, dual Ethernet, WiFi and an optional 4G connection, plus 8 digital inputs, 4 relay outputs and 4 analogue inputs for site I/O. Power comes from an 85-300Vac supply, drawing 20W typically and 30W at peak. The enclosure is IP66 rated for indoor or outdoor wall mounting, weighs 5kg and operates from -30 to 60 degrees C.
