The Genius Roof Solutions SolarFlash Slate New Build Kit is a weatherproof flashing for taking a solar panel mounting bracket through a slate roof that is being laid or fully re-slated. The SolarFlash unit measures 365 x 365 mm with a 50 x 140 x 40 mm hood, and is supplied with two wooden shims and a foam insert to seal the hood against wind-driven rain and snow. It is designed for natural and manmade slate up to 600 mm long, with a double-lap head lap of 75-100 mm, and carries marked size guides so surrounding slates can be trimmed or nailed through as needed. Unlike the retrofit version of this kit, it does not include Hallhooks, since a new-build or fully re-slated roof lets the flashing be laid in with the slates from the start.
