The Viridian Solar ArcBox is a fire-safety enclosure that snaps around a single DC solar connector pair, containing any arc fault that develops from a poor crimp, cross-mated connectors or incomplete insertion. Two hinged halves close around the connector, lining it with a high-temperature refractory material, while cable-sealing grommets suspend the connector in free air at each end. Ventilation and drainage ports keep the connector within its rated operating temperature and stop moisture collecting around it. The enclosure measures 150 x 50 x 48mm, weighs 410g, and fits cables from 4-6mm² (5.4-6.4mm outside diameter) with connectors up to 110mm long and 20mm in diameter, operating from -40 to +85°C. Independent testing by the KIWA fire laboratory and Slovenia's ZAG institute both recorded over five minutes of arcing with no fire spread to surrounding roofing materials, and Loughborough University confirmed connector temperatures stay within manufacturers' limits when fitted.
